New Poll: Texas Voters Support a Strong Medicaid Program

88% of Texas voters say it’s important to have a strong, sustainable Medicaid program according to a new Morning Consult poll.

Why it matters: Texas Medicaid provides coverage for 18% of Texas residents. Next to employer-sponsored coverage, it is the largest source of health insurance in the state.

  • Texas Medicaid provides coverage for children, including those with special care needs, pregnant women, individuals with mental and physical disabilities, elderly Texans with needs beyond Medicare, foster children, and veterans. 

Other Key Poll Results:

  • 73% have a favorable view of Medicaid
  • 66% oppose cutting Medicaid funding
