SB 2450 Oppose One-Pager – Mandating Fee-for-Service Rates Threatens Medicaid Savings and Flexibility

TAHP opposes Senate Bill 2450, which would force Medicaid managed care plans to adopt outdated fee-for-service payment rates, eliminate provider network flexibility, and weaken fraud prevention tools. These mandates would increase taxpayer costs by over $30 million annually, undermine alternative payment models, and reverse hard-won gains in Medicaid efficiency and patient outcomes. Texas should preserve proven managed care strategies, not return to failed fee-for-service models.
