One-Pager Supporting HB 2802 and SB 1127: Medicaid Texting
Currently, the option to “opt-in” to texting and email on the Medicaid application is confusing. Texans can easily overlook or misunderstand instructions when filling out preferred contact preferences. The process for individuals to receive text communications from their health insurance plan should be as simple and streamlined as possible.
HB 2802 by Rep. Rose and SB 1127 by Sen. Blanco align state law with recent federal
guidance that makes it easier for Texans to receive texts about their Medicaid enrollment or
eligibility renewals. The bills also ensure Texans can opt out of any communications or unsubscribe anytime.
