HB 4585 Oppose One-Pager – Medicaid Already Has Strong Prompt Pay Standards Without Costly New Mandates
TAHP opposes House Bill 4585, which would impose commercial prompt pay and external review requirements onto Medicaid—despite the fact that Medicaid already has some of the strictest claims payment timelines and penalties in the country. Applying commercial standards would create unnecessary administrative costs, drive up taxpayer expenses, and disrupt a system that already delivers timely provider payments and robust patient protections. Texas should protect Medicaid’s efficiency, not burden it with costly, duplicative mandates.
