HB 4012 Support One-Pager – Strengthening Commercial Fraud Enforcement to Lower Costs
TAHP supports House Bill 4012, which enhances fraud prevention tools for commercial health plans to combat rising health care costs. While state agencies already crack down on fraud in Medicaid and Medicare, Texas employers and families with private coverage lack the same protections. HB 4012 expands the state’s authority to investigate fraud in commercial plans, integrates private insurers into enforcement partnerships, and empowers whistleblowers to report fraud. These commonsense reforms will reduce waste and help lower premiums across the state.
