HB 1818 Oppose One-Pager – Costly New Review Mandate Raises Premiums Without Improving Patient Care
TAHP opposes House Bill 1818, which would impose duplicative annual examinations of health plan prior authorization processes—despite robust existing oversight by the Texas Department of Insurance. Health plans already undergo comprehensive triennial reviews, and TDI retains authority to conduct additional exams if issues arise. Requiring full annual reviews would create massive administrative burdens and drive up premiums for employers and families, without delivering meaningful benefits to patients.
