2026.08.31 TAHP Medicaid Cost Containment Letter

TAHP submitted cost containment recommendations to HHSC outlining opportunities to help achieve the Legislature’s $550 million Medicaid savings target without reducing covered services or member access. TAHP urged HHSC to prioritize prescription drug savings, less prescriptive service coordination requirements, stronger EVV fraud prevention, and greater MCO flexibility to adjust provider rates, while also recommending reforms to right-price services and strengthen utilization management.
